Monica Hopenwasser is a Visual Artist who lives and works in New York City. Over the past twenty years, Monica dedicated herself to an exciting career in Art Education and Graphic Arts. There have been many chapters to her story and in 2014 Monica became a new mother and devoted herself to be a studio artist.
She graduated from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University with a BFA and earned her MFA in Integrated Media Arts at Hunter College. She has exhibited in New York City and is an accomplished Art Educator who has received recognition and awards for her work with students in The Arts.
Monica Hopenwasser’s combined history informs her techniques and themes in her artworks, which are a balance between the process and desired effect. Monica’s work revolves around identity and circumstance as she uses text as a basis for her compositions. Technology is inherent to her artwork, whether it is an integrated element or layer in her compositions, or an active tool to create original digital paintings and drawings.
